Sama of de Mawlawia:\n\nDeze Soefi ceremonie heet ook wel dhikr, herinnering aan God. Dit ritueel stamt uit de dertiende eeuw en werd ge\u00efnspireerd door de mystieke dichter Jalal-al-Din al Rumi.*)

De Sama is een wervelende beweging die de mystieke reis van een mens toont, een spirituele opgang door geest en liefde naar de hoogste niveaus van volmaaktheid.
De werveling is het principe van het bestaan waar alles eeuwigdurende beweging is. De draaiing tegen de klok in symboliseert de bevrijding van de tijd.

De dervish danser doet zijn zwarte mantel af, symbool van het ongeboren menselijke lichaam. Hij draagt nog zijn witte wolkachtige hemd en ook de rok is breed en wijd, een verwijzing naar vrijheid en onafhankelijkheid. Een brede gordel onderstreept zijn geestkracht en geduld. Op zijn hoofd draagt de danser een lange bruine kap in de vorm van de letter A, de eerste letter van het woord God (ALLAH). De bruine kleur herinnert aan de aarde (stof tot stof\u2026., ashes tot ashes).\n\nHij begint met een langzame draai, opent dan zijn handen alsof het vleugels zijn en spiraalt dan omhoog op zoek naar zichzelf en de grond van zijn bestaan.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Bij de werveling is het de linkervoet die snel en sterk op zijn plek ronddraait en ritmisch evenwicht geeft. Deze voet is Al Sharia, terwijl de bewegende voet het hele leven voorstelt.
De rechterhand steekt omhoog naar de hemel zoekend naar steun en hulp van God (Madad) terwijl de linkerhand naar de aarde wijst om de Goddelijke energie te verspreiden en dit aardse leven zo te verzaken.
